Battle of the Zuiderzee
The Siege of Alkmaar was the turning point of the struggle against the Spaniards ashore. The Battle on the Zuiderzee, 11 and 12 October 1573 (for a few days after the Siege of Alkmaar), brought the change at sea.
In the city of Hoorn there are 3 houses on which facades this battle is depicted. These images are shown below. The commander of the Spanish fleet, Bossu, was after the victory brought as a prisoner to Hoorn. Hoorn was one of the rebellious cities.
